I visited Alta Vista today after being told by my regular Dr that they were too busy for an emergency. The receptionist at Alta Vista was very helpful and got me an apt that morning. Allison is the best! I struggled with acne for years. My skin is very sensitive, dry and red. I remember how mentally and physically painful it was to wash my face. It felt like alligator skin and that made me extremely self-conscience. My skin would sting when I applied sun screen. It would take forever to cover up with makeup and then my face looked dry and bumpy. Some days I didn’t want to leave my home. I thought that people looked at me and saw just the acne. Some were even blunt enough... to say, "Wow, what's going on with your face? Isn't there something you can do about that?"I tried various treatments such as antibiotics, isotretinoin, spironolactone, Acleara, and countless face washes, creams and other products. Most acne treatments like salicylic acid made my skin worse. It was a tough code to crack and most skin professionals didn’t have the expertise, patience or understanding to challenge my problem. I was looking forward to this doctors visit because on their website it portrayed to be more than an in and out the door service for another doc to tell me I have eczema and it isn’t curable. I thought they would dig deeper with allergy tests (more than just chemical) give alternative medicine and lifestyle changes, not more medicine and creams to suppress the immune system and mask the problem. When I showed the doctor my before and after pics of my skin (about 90% better when I change... my diet and juice) she still shook her head and said it wasn’t diet related. Good Dermatology office and nice staff.The only comment I would make is the wait time in the lobby and exam room is always long. We typically wait 25 -30 minutes after our scheduled appointment time in the lobby and then another 15 or 20 in the exam room. They do provide coffee and tea and magazines in the lobby but a 15 minutes appointment can often take an hour or more. Otherwise I do really like our PA Jessica Sorensen. She is personable and patient.

The staff was ahead of schedule, pleasant and thorough. I did not feel rushed as I did at the previous office I used to go to. The doctor offered to take off some "pesky" growths for me without me begging (like I had to do at the other office). I would highly recommend Alta Vista.
